At Timmerly Photography, our mission is to create timeless memories through our photography services. We understand that when it comes to booking a photographer, there are a lot of questions that may arise. Here are some frequently asked questions to help you get started.

  • How to schedule a session?
    To schedule a session with me, you can visit my website and click on the "book a session" button, or you can send me an email at Please let me know the date or month you are interested in booking, and I will check my availability. Once we have confirmed a date, I will send you an official contract to solidify the booking. This will ensure that all the details of the session are agreed upon in advance, giving us the opportunity to create a truly customized experience for you. In terms of location, I typically shoot in the Lake Country area. However, I am always open to exploring new locations and can work with you to find the perfect setting that complements your vision for the shoot. Sessions take place an hour before sunset, as this is when the light is most flattering and sets the mood for beautiful and natural-looking photos. Prior to the session, we will touch base to discuss any specific requests or details that you would like me to keep in mind during the shoot.
  • Does Timmerly photography travel for photoshoots?
    Absolutely! I love exploring new places and capturing the beauty of different locations. If the distance is over 25 miles from Oconomowoc, WI. I do charge a travel fee of $1 per additional mile.
  • How long does a session typically last?
    Full family sessions usually last between 45-60 minutes, while newborn sessions typically run anywhere from 1-1.5 hours.
  • When should I schedule a newborn session?
    Please contact me a few months before your due date to book a newborn session. Once your little one arrives, we'll secure a spot for them between birth and 21 days old.
  • Where do newborn sessions take place?
    Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. While I don't have a studio, we can always rent a space or even take the photoshoot outdoors (weather permitting).
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    I currently accept cash, check, or Venmo as forms of payment.
  • When is the best time to schedule a maternity session?
    I recommend scheduling a maternity session around 32-36 weeks into your pregnancy. This is when you'll have a beautiful bump but still be comfortable enough to pose and move around.
  • What should I wear for the photoshoot?
    I suggest going for layers, textures, neutrals, and earth tones when styling your family for the session. These colors edit beautifully, especially during golden hour. Once you book your session, I'll send you a Style and Select code.
  • Can I bring my furry friend to the photoshoot?
    Absolutely! I love when families bring their pets along for the shoot. Just make sure to check if our location allows animals beforehand. And if possible, bring someone along who can help with the pet when they're not being photographed.
  • How far in advance should I book a session?
    I recommend booking your session at least 1-3 months in advance to ensure that we can secure a date that works for both of us. However, if you need a session sooner, don't hesitate to reach out and see if I have any availability.
